about

In the summer of 2013, Holly Ruth and The Grey Jays recorded a full-length album, and for two years until it's release on September 28, 2015, it was engineered, mixed, mastered and recorded (and re-recorded) by Grant Trippel. Mostly in a well set-up basement with piles of helpful, rented equipment. Much arrangement having been done in the wind of an isolated lake. They spent an accumulation of weeks together in preparation over this period, and grew to understand evolution in this project from the making of this album.

about

Holly Ruth and The Grey Jays Winnipeg, Manitoba

Formed in winter 2013, we've been playing shows across Winnipeg, and a couple rural places, since! We've toured as far as Peterborough in a rain-filled beautiful autumn. Our sound is roots/groove, emotionally honest, with jazz influences. We have been playing together in various projects for years. 'Birds' is our launched work of heart.
